My Go-To Sources For Finding Inspiration

Finding inspiration is always such a challenge and a joy. Whether I'm working on a new fashion illustration, a custom design, or a detailed wedding portrait, the spark of an idea often comes from different sources. Today, I want to share with you my go-to sources for finding inspiration

1. The Outdoors

Being outside the home is an endless source of inspiration. The colors, patterns, and textures found outdoors in nature often influence my work. Whether it's the color palette of a flower, the intricate branches of a tree, or the magic of changing seasons, I find that spending time outdoors and immersing myself in nature helps me see the world from a whole new perspective.

2. Art and Fashion History

Exploring the rich history of art and fashion is another great way to get inspired. I love diving into different eras & decades, looking through the works of designers and artists, and studying the evolution of fashion trends as well as art timelines. The more you study older artworks, the more insights you gain!

3. Travel

Traveling exposes you to new cultures, traditions, landscapes, and aesthetics. Each place visited offers unique architecture, street art, and fashion that one may not encounter otherwise. These experiences are so invaluable! I often find myself drawing upon memories from my travels when I'm brainstorming new projects.

4. Books and Movies

Stories, whether told through books or movies, are incredible sources of inspiration. They transport you to different worlds, introduce you to new characters, and present unique visual & imaginative styles.

5. Everyday Life

Sometimes, the best inspiration comes from the mundane simplicity of everyday life. Observing people, their interactions, and their personal styles can be incredibly enlightening. Even though I don’t practice it as much as I should, I love sketching in cafes or parks, capturing the essence of daily moments and translating them into my illustrations.

6. Limiting Social Media Time But Nurturing Online Communities

Trying to find your own voice in a well of digital noise can be tricky. However, platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, and Behance are treasure troves of inspiration. Following other artists, designers, and creators allows you to see a diverse range of styles and techniques. Engaging with online communities also helps in staying updated on trends and innovations in the art world.

Inspiration is everywhere, waiting to be discovered. By staying curious and open to new experiences, I ensure that my creative well never runs dry. I hope these go-to sources of finding inspiration help you in your artistic journey as much as they've helped me. Happy creating!
